Primary Boys A 6-a-Side Football Tournament at Shelly Bay Field

The Primary Boys A team represented Somersfield Academy with pride at the BSSF 6-a-Side Football Tournament held at Shelly Bay Field. The boys were full of excitement and a few nerves to start the day, but they quickly found their rhythm as the tournament progressed.

The team’s opening match was against Victor Scott, where they narrowly lost 1-0. Shaking off the nerves, they regrouped and faced Dalton E. Tucker in their second game, earning a 2-2 draw with both goals scored by Maddox Seymour Durham. In their third match, the boys secured a solid 2-0 victory over Paget Primary with goals from Trevor Mills and Christian Clingerman.

Momentum continued to build in their fourth pool game against Francis Patton, where the boys won convincingly 3-0. Goals came from Trevor Mills, Tau Gibbons, and Maddox Seymour Durham, allowing Somersfield to finish at the top of their pool.

Advancing to the quarterfinals, the boys faced St. George’s Prep in a tight, hard-fought game that ended 1-1, with the Somersfield goal from Trevor Mills. The match went to penalties, where Remi White made several crucial saves. Successful penalty goals from Remi White, Tau Gibbons, and Christian Clingerman secured their spot in the semifinals.

In the semifinal round, Somersfield came up against a strong Saltus team and, despite a determined effort, fell 4-1. The lone goal came from Maddox Seymour Durham.

The boys showed fantastic teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. A big thank you goes to Coach Rychus for guiding the team to the semifinals, and to all the parents who helped with driving and came out to cheer the team on — your support made a big difference!

It was a great day of football, and the boys should be proud of their efforts and the way they represented Somersfield Academy.
