5K Fun Run and Walk: A Day of Fitness, Community, and Support for Education

The 2024 5k Somersfield Fun Run and Walk, held on September 29, exceeded expectations with nearly 300 participants!

The event brought together students, alumni, families, and the wider community for a day filled with fitness, fun, and school spirit. Participants enjoyed the range of races, from the 400m dash to the competitive 5k run and non-competitive 5K walk, all held on the Somersfield Academy grounds and surrounding Devonshire area.

One of the highlights of the day was the Olympian Tyler Smith, a proud Somersfield alumnus, who presented awards to the top finishers. Smith, who represented Bermuda in the 2024 Olympics in Paris, expressed his excitement to support the school that helped shape both his academic and athletic success.

“I’m thrilled to be back at Somersfield and to give back to the community that was such an important part of my journey,” Smith said. “It was incredible to see so many people come together for a cause that means so much to me.”

David Lunn, Race Director, reflected on the day’s success: "A particular highlight for me was running as the "hare" for the 400m races with the primary students. It was awesome to see so many kids competing and hopefully starting a lifelong passion for running."
