Primary Girls 7-a-Side Football Tournament

October 16, 2025 — Ten of our Primary girls headed to the NSC North Field to take part in the BSSF 7-a-side football tournament. The team started the day a little nervous but quickly found their rhythm, growing in confidence and teamwork with each match.

After the group stages, Somersfield finished with an impressive record of three wins and one loss, earning a place in the knockout rounds. In the quarterfinals against Francis Patton, the skies opened and the rain poured down — but that didn’t stop our girls! They fought hard until the final whistle, with Myla Desjardins scoring a crucial goal to tie the game 1-1.

As the match went to penalties, Myla bravely stepped into goal, making some fantastic saves while our girls converted their shots with calm precision. Somersfield came out victorious, advancing to the semifinals against MSA. Despite the continuing rain, the girls’ determination and team spirit never wavered. Molly Morton scored a great goal for Somersfield, but the match ended 2-1 in MSA’s favor.

We are incredibly proud of our girls for their perseverance, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. A huge thank you to Coaches Rychus and Shon for their guidance and encouragement, and to all the parents who drove, supported, and cheered in the rain — your energy made the day even more special!
