Kendra and Evan Win Second Place in Video Game Design Challenge

April 15, 2023 —- Bio-Butterfly Evolution, by Evan Nappee, Jonathan Nappee, Alexander Posthumus and Kendra Chatterjee, won second place in the butterfly themed video game design challenge hosted by Bermuda Island Games.

On the Friday leading up to the challenge Kendra and Evan joined in on a lesson where they learned about the specs required for their game submission. Once complete, they broke out into teams, shared ideas and then had dinner together as a bonding experience.

Saturday was competition day and they began by building ideas around their game design what information their presentation would include. They then presented their games in front of three judges and after a ten minute deliberation the winners were announced. The team grew more and more excited as they called the order of winners from last place to first place. When the announcers called second position Kendra realized that her team had one and she was shocked and excited. The team won Mandalorian Limited addition headphones and were each awarded a 3-D printed trophy which lights up and has a remote control to change the light color.

Kendra said all of the teams were really amazing and originally they were competing to win a PlayStation5 which the organizers decided to raffle off instead. Kendra thought it was amazing that the student that had placed last in the game design competition won the PlayStation5. Only the top three teams were awarded prizes and she thought it was really amazing that the last place person receive the best prize of the day. Everyone ultimately walked away happy.
