Department Re-launches Caribou Mathematics Competitions
The Somersfield Mathematics department are delighted to announce the relaunch of the Caribou Mathematics Competitions at Somersfield.
Caribou Mathematics is a Canadian based international educational platform who offer the opportunity for students, from P1 to DP2, to enter up to six online competitions each year. All participants will receive certificates for participation and achievement, and top scoring students can even win cash prizes.
Caribou Contests, founded by Dr. Thomas Wolf, a Canadian math professor, offers innovative online math competitions. Inspired by his own math contest experiences, he sought to enhance math education. Caribou distinguishes itself by being online, allowing interactive questions, and hosting multiple contests yearly. Its mission includes making math engaging for all students, fostering problem-solving skills rooted in flexible thinking, creativity, logic, and common sense, and nurturing a global love for math while reducing anxiety. Caribou Contests serves as a platform for students to practice, learn, and grow, encouraging persistence in the face of challenging problems.
The first of these competitions is will be contested in mid-October and all parents who wish for their student(s) to participate in this and future competitions should email Angus Shillitoe at ashillitoe@somersfield.bm
