Ayden Gibbons ’30 Awarded Prestigious Andrew Morrison Music Scholarship

Ayden Gibbons ’30, has been awarded the Bermuda School of Music’s Andrew Morrison Scholarship. This honour recognises exceptional musical promise and dedication, and Ayden’s achievement places him in distinguished company.

Thirteen-year-old Ayden is a talented cellist and pianist who studies under Mr. Isaiah Pennington and Mr. Anssi Saarinen. Passionate about music, Ayden consistently demonstrates a strong commitment to refining his technique and deepening his understanding of the art form.

The Andrew Morrison Trust Music Scholarship, established in 2014, was created to honour the legacy of Andrew Morrison—an extraordinary classical and jazz pianist, cellist, and longtime music educator in Bermuda. The scholarship supports young musicians in their educational journeys and promotes the development of musical talent in Bermuda’s youth.

At Somersfield Academy, Ayden’s dedication has not gone unnoticed. His music teacher shared: “Ayden has a deep and growing knowledge of music that he uses to contribute meaningfully to class discussions and group work. He has shown remarkable progress in his string playing, demonstrating excellent technique and a strong work ethic. Ayden’s consistent practice is reflected in the quality of his performance.”

Ayden’s passion, discipline, and talent have earned him this well-deserved recognition. We look forward to watching his musical journey continue to unfold.
