October 22, 2013 — Somersfield Academy is proud to celebrate alumnus Nicholas Hall, the recipient of the prestigious 2013 RenaissanceRe Undergraduate Scholarship. Valued at $25,000 annually for up to four years, this award honours academic excellence, leadership, and community service — qualities Nicholas honed during his time at Somersfield.

Nicholas completed the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) at Somersfield Academy before advancing to the IB Diploma Programme at Bermuda High School (BHS). His achievements reflect the strong foundation laid at Somersfield, where he embraced the values of intellectual curiosity, independence, and service.

At BHS, Nicholas excelled as Head Boy and demonstrated leadership in Round Square activities, earning the Heather Dias Memorial Prize for Service. His academic prowess shone brightly as he won the University of Waterloo Math Olympiad three consecutive years. Beyond academics, his dedication to the violin for over a decade and his commitment to coaching skating and climbing further showcased his diverse talents and character.

Kevin O’Donnell, RenaissanceRe’s president and CEO, praised Nicholas’s problem-solving skills, work ethic, and volunteerism — qualities nurtured during his formative years at Somersfield. The MYP programme emphasises critical thinking, collaboration, and community impact, values Nicholas carried forward in every endeavour.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in actuarial science at Western University, Canada, Nicholas embodies the vision of a Somersfield education: a student-centric journey preparing learners to succeed with confidence, awareness, and compassion.

Congratulations, Nicholas! Your journey is a testament to the power of a strong foundation, and we are honoured to have been part of your path. We look forward to seeing the continued impact of your leadership and dedication on the world.
