At Somersfield Academy, International Day is more than just a vibrant tradition—it’s a cornerstone of who we are as a community. Going back to the founding of our school, this cherished event has brought together students, staff, and families to honour the incredible diversity that defines us.

With over 40 nationalities represented among our staff and students, International Day is the culmination of weeks of exploration, discovery, and connection. Each Children’s House and Primary class selects a country—based on the heritage of one of their classmates—and dives into an in-depth study of its culture. Students learn about the food, customs, dress, music, and traditions of their chosen country, creating a deeper understanding and appreciation for the richness of our world.

International Day is a feast for the senses, featuring the vibrant colours of traditional attire, the tantalising aromas of international cuisine, the rhythmic beats of music from around the globe, and the warmth of community. It’s a day where we pause to celebrate not only the beauty of our differences but also the shared values that unite us as global citizens.
