Tyler Smith Secures Second Place in Under-13 Boys' Cross-Country Final

February 02, 2011 — Saltus Grammar Schools' Daniel Oatley stormed to victory in yesterday’s Over-13 Boys’ Middle Schools’ Cross-Country Final at the Arboretum, finishing 45 seconds ahead of his closest competitor. Oatley crossed the line in a time of 12 minutes, 4 seconds, ahead of team-mate Sam Wehmeyer (12:49) and Clearwater’s Jahquill Hill (13:12), who finished third. Saltus emerged as the team winners with 55 points.

In the Over-13 Girls’ race, Dellwood Middle Schools’ Faheemah Scraders claimed victory with a time of 14:23. Dezhane West from Clearwater finished as the runner-up in 14:55, while Dellwood’s Emily Cowan came third with a time of 14:59. BHS finished as the winning team with 41 points.

David Darrell of Warwick Academy won the Under-13 Boys’ race with a time of 12:26, ahead of Somersfield Academy’s Tyler Smith (12:46) and Machaiah Robinson of Clearwater, who came third with a time of 13:09. Clearwater was the overall school winner with 76 points.

In the Under-13 Girls’ contest, Sandys Middle School’s Zakiyyah Showers took the title, finishing the race in 8:20. BHS’ Quinnae Outerbridge came in second with a time of 8:49, and Clearwater’s Azaria Robinson was third with 8:50. BHS won the school category with 61 points.
