Techie with a Sense of Adventure

Eli Carpol enjoys playing video games and his knowledge, passion and expertise shone through in his personal project: ‘Building a Gaming PC’.

“I love to play video games and PC’s run video games at the highest frame rate and quality possible, making them the best machine to use when gaming,” he explains. He also pointed out how relevant this topic is in today’s world: “technology is the future of civilisation,” he says.

He had to overcome a slight hiccup while working on his project, however, as his graphics card wasn’t compatible with the rest of the parts he had: “I had to buy a new one from Red Laser. I ended up with an NVIDIA GeForce 3050, which I’m very pleased with.”

Gaming isn’t Eli’s only passion. He also enjoys a physical adrenaline rush. His dream travel destination is Hawaii so he can “go cliff jumping and surfing.”

Eli’s project fits into the IB MYP global context of perspective through scientific and technical innovation, which encourages an inquiry into the natural world and its laws; the interaction between the natural world (physical and biological) and human societies; how humans use their understanding of scientific principles; the impact of scientific and technological advances on society and on the environment.
