Somersfield Students Shine In I.B. Exams

September 17, 2019 — Somersfield Academy’s 2019 senior class achieved a 95% success rate in the 2019 International Baccalaureate Organization’s [IBO] Middle Years Program eAssessments.

A spokesperson said, “This compares quite favorably to the world average of 39.44% students earning full MYP Certificates. The Somersfield students’ average score of 41 points [of a 56 possible maximum] also significantly surpassed the 2019 world average of 36 points for those students participating in the eAssessments.”

“The top three results were earned by Katherine Tobin 53; Marco Stirling 49, and Sakai Newman 49.”

Principal Carlos Symonds said, “We are proud of the exceptional results achieved in the IB MYP eAssessments by this outstanding group of students. Every M5 student was entered into the full certificate program and this bodes well for them as a cohort, as they embark on the newly introduced I.B. Diploma program.

“We congratulate the students and thank our parents and teachers for their support and the critical home-school partnership that is so essential for these stellar results.”

A spokesperson said, “Statistics reveal that 77,850 candidates in 819 schools in 98 countries around the world sat the I.B. MYP international examinations. Second to the Bahamas, Somersfield entered the largest group of students in the Caribbean region.
