Somersfield Students and Staff Join Bermuda Sloop Pirates Fundraiser

March 19, 2026 — Somersfield students and staff are participating in the Bermuda Sloop Pirate Fundraiser on Sunday, 19 April, from 12 pm at No. 1 Parking Lot, Front Street, to support the M3’s upcoming voyages. The team—Riki Teteina, Jason Hammer, Charlie Judd, Jarred Jones ‘29, Maikel Dela Cruz ’29, Lola Reape ’28, Sydney Troake ’28, Naomi Crofton ’27, Heidi Paulos ’27, and Yemaya Iris ’28—is working to raise $60,000 to fund two transformative voyages aboard the Spirit of Bermuda.

Since 2006, more than 8,500 Bermuda students have participated in the Middle School sailing programme, gaining hands-on experience in teamwork and resilience. These voyages provide opportunities for students to learn to successfully prepare, plan, navigate, sail and better understand the natural world.

Somersfield’s participation in the fundraiser reflects the school’s mission to inspire socially conscious, independent thinkers and its commitment to offering experiences that extend learning beyond the classroom.
