Design is Everywhere: Kairo Morton ‘20

Friday, April 14, 2023 — Somersfield Academy welcomed back to campus, Kairo Morton ‘20 for a presentation to the M4 design class on his journey from Devonshire, Bermuda to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Kairo attested his love of design to his myriad experiences during his time at Somersfield Academy. At 14 years old, he went to George School in Pennsylvania. This is where his love for design and technology grew through projects such as developing a face recognizing nerf gun with robotic controlled autonomous aiming; and publishing his first paper as a first author on Grammar Filtering for Syntax-Guided Synthesis, to name a few.

Kairo is currently studying Artificial Intelligence and Decision Making at MIT and finds himself surrounded by the most tech-driven people in the world. He completed his second research internship at Google headquarters in Mountain View, California last summer and is pursuing a career in AI research.

From ChatGPT to GPAs, Kairo was able to inspire our M4 student design class with ideas about the importance of networking, internships and the practicalities of design tools. Design is everywhere!
